My Qualifications as an Attorney
In Texas, lawyers are certified as to their experience and legal knowledge by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Only a lawyer who is board-certified in a particular area of law can call himself a specialist. I am board-certified in two legal specialties: civil trials and personal injury trials. Less than one percent of Texas lawyers hold both certifications.
Many people assume that all lawyers know how to try cases. In reality, few lawyers have extensive trial experience. Most attorneys resolve cases by negotiating a settlement with the other side. While the vast majority of family law and personal injury cases can be resolved by settlements, there are times when a reasonable settlement is not possible and you need to go to court. Even in divorce cases where the majority of issues can be resolved amicably, it may be necessary to obtain a judge's ruling on an issue such as community property division.
I prepare each case as if it were going to end up in court. This typically puts me in a better negotiating position with the other side. If we can reach a settlement, all the better. If not, I am well-versed in court procedure and laying a foundation for evidence that needs to come into your case.
I have more than 20 years of experience trying civil and personal injury cases in Texas. To learn more about my background, click on the following link.
